Gopal T. Raghunath, PT MS, DPT, CSCS
Following work in various rehabilitation settings, he went on to receive his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (DPT) with a specialty certification in Sports Physical Therapy (CSPT) from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, in 2007. Dr. Raghunath specializes in the evaluation and treatment of orthopaedic neuromusculoskeletal conditions of the spine and extremities. He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and offers personalized sports performance & fitness training. Dr. Raghunath has worked with numerous athletes on the high-school, college, semi-professional, and professional level, including the NFL Chicago Bears during the 2000 off-season, under the direction of team Kinesiologist/Athletic Trainer, Robert Shultz.
Dr. Raghunath is also an accomplished athlete, having been a competitive swimmer on the state and national level: High-School First Team All-State honors (1991) while at Loyola Academy; Finalist and Junior National qualifier in the 100 m. Butterfly at the 1994 Illinois Long Course Summer State Championships; 3-time NCAC (North Coast Athletic Conference) Division III finalist in the 100 and 200 yd. Butterfly while at Denison University.
Dr. Raghunath enjoys traveling, downhill skiing, hiking, mountain biking, yoga, stand-up paddleboarding and martial arts. He has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) – Sports and Orthopaedic sections, since 2001. Dr. Raghunath is committed to lifelong learning and evidence-based practice through regular review of current research & clinical journals. He attends continuing education courses to further expand his clinical skills in his area of expertise. Dr. Raghunath lives with his wife Bhakti in Vernon Hills, who is also a practicing Physical Therapist.
