This guy is thorough. I’ve been in and out of physical therapy in the past 4 years, each time, going to a different place. I last went to the Center for Holistic Medicine in Deerfield, and they are good at everything they do, including physical therapy, but this guy is REALLY knowledgeable.
My therapist is Gopal, recommended by my orthopedic doctor, and from what I can tell, he’s the head guy here. He’s a nice guy, and has a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, specializing in Sports, and it shows. Most of the places i’ve been to have had therapists with master’s degrees.
This was just my first visit and I will update it as necessary.Justin G.
If I could give 1,000 stars I would. We reluctantly went looking for a new physical therapist when our group insurance carrier changed at the beginning of the year. We went with Gopal based on Angie’s List and Yelp reviews… and we liked the fact that he is a swimmer and we are trying to rehab a competitive swimmer after shoulder surgery. All we can say is WOW. This guy loves his job and is amazingly dedicated to his craft. Here are just a few things that set him way apart:
– He calls to see how she is doing after he’s added a new exercise… after she’s visited the surgeon, etc.
– He keeps in touch with the surgeon on an ongoing basis
– He brings a mental/encouragement aspect into the rehab in addition to the physical. The surgery has iffy outcomes but Gopal is always talking to her about goal-setting and achievements once she returns to the pool.
– He is the nicest guy. Always offers US (the non-patients) tea or water.
– He updates her exercise/paperwork for us every few weeks and even color-coordinates it.
– Much more… too much to name.
I sincerely hope that Gopal grows his business to the point where it is HUGE because he deserves much success. He also operates a training business which we will try to use after the physical therapy is finished… because I think it will be beneficial just to continue to have his positivity in my daughter’s life.Kim L.
I had surgery on the lumbar spine in September 2015, which followed two years of conservative treatments and a lot of pain. Before and after the surgery, I have been to many health care professionals, such as massage therapists, osteopaths, acupuncturists, etc. But a friend recommended Gopal Raghunath and I will go nowhere else now.
Gopal is professional, knowledgeable, friendly and very effective. Before getting into complicated treatment modalities, he worked on the basics, i.e. stretching and conditioning of my muscles and joints. This approach helped me curb and control my back pain.
The personal attention and time that Gopal spends with me during treatments has made all the difference in my rehabilitation. I’ve come a long way since I started going to the clinic. Therapy BGPT has helped me return to an active lifestyle – I returned to the gym on a regular basis. I will recommend this location for anyone looking to recover from a surgery, or simply take themselves to the next level of physical fitness.Michael L.
Buffalo Grove Physical Therapy & Sport Rehabilitation is a phenomenal medical practice. As a professional athlete and coach, I strongly recommend this place to anyone recovering from an injury but athletes of all ages can uniquely benefit from Gopal’s expertise. While an injury might be a short setback, training and learning with Gopal can make your return exponentially better.
In additional to injury rehabilitation, Gopal is passionate about building foundational strength for desired performance and correcting dysfunctional movement patterns that lead to injuries over time. He has a tremendous eye for detail and a disciplined approach. I wish I had met Gopal earlier in my athletic career to re-pattern movements for long term health and maximize athletic performance. Again, I would strongly encourage all athletes to work with Gopal for this very reason.
Sessions are one-on-one, very professional, and very thorough. Gopal is extremely knowledgeable and truly cares for his patients as individuals. It was quite common to get a follow-up phone call just to check-in following a work out. It’s a small thing but it means to world on a tough day.
I spent nearly a year with Gopal working through a back injury that needed surgery in addition to the rehab following the surgery. When I first arrived at Buffalo Grove Physical Therapy, I could barely walk due to severe sciatic pain. It is a year later and the pain is gone and hopefully the residual neuropathy will clear up next.
Buffalo Grove Physical Therapy gets my highest recommendation. I am forever grateful for helping me get my mobility back and teaching healthier ways of moving for the years to come.David S.
I highly recommend the Buffalo Grove Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center for anyone looking for relief from ailments causing pain in any way, physical therapy rehabilitation from surgeries, and personal training to increase your day to day functionality, strength, and conditioning. Dr. Gopal Raghunath is very knowledgeable in all aspects of recovery and rehabilitation and sports performance training. He is all about the functionality of the exercises and performing them correctly to get the most out of your effort and spending your time wisely. He takes his time to explain the exercises he gives you and the reasons behind them so you understand not only the how, but the why behind them. You are always working with him in a one-to-one capacity so you get the benefit of his knowledge and expertise. He really cares about his patients and their well being!!
Dr. Gopal Raghunath was recommended by my Orthopedic doctor when I was experiencing pain in my knee stemming from years of being an athlete and a past ACL surgery. I met with Dr. Gopal Raghunath, and after a few weeks of treatment the pain in my knee had greatly diminished. I finished up my physical therapy and moved on to personal training with him. During the personal training sessions you are again getting one-on-one treatment. The exercises vary and everything you do works out multiple muscle groups at once with a lot of emphasis on core strength and functionality. It’s always a great strength and conditioning workout.
Due to my past knee injury, I ended up having arthroscopic knee surgery to clean it up and fix a few things. I again returned to Dr. Gopal Raghunath for physical therapy. It is going very well and I look forward to starting up personal training sessions again after I complete the therapy.
I highly recommend this practice and Dr. Gopal Raghunath for the high level of care and compassion he shows his patients. The wellbeing of his patients is really a priority for him and it shows in all aspects of the care received.Janet F.

I have started with Gopal 4 years ago after undergoing lower back surgery. His Strengthening program rocks! With PhD in Physical Therapy Gopal really knows what he is doing and takes individual interest in every patient. I am 57 years old and feel stronger now than I did when I was 20. I recommend Gopal to all my friends and many seek his services!!!Dr. Yan
BG Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation was recommended to me by my Orthopedic Doctor after a recurring ankle sprain and surgery. The staff are very friendly and professional, and if I ever get re-injured, I will definitely return here.Teppei F.
