Preventing and treating knee ailments & injuries through personalized programs

The best defense against knee injuries is first learning to move well and then to move often.

Most knee injuries are preventable. The personalized programs at Buffalo Grove Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation, P.C. can help significantly reduce your risk of sprains, ruptures, and deteriorating function.

How can I avoid knee injuries?

The key to minimizing or preventing knee injuries is optimizing the balance between mobility and stability, to help minimize joint stress and maximize movement efficiency. Some contributing factors to knee injuries include:

  • Core muscle instability
  • Weakness throughout the hip/knee complex
  • Poor flexibility throughout gluteal/quadriceps/hamstring/ITB musculature
  • Inappropriate footwear

In addition to helping prevent future injuries, Buffalo Grove Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation works with individuals recovering from procedures such as joint replacements, ligament reconstructions, and tendon/cartilage repairs. Our foremost priority is to help you regain full functional faculty and independence to ensure that you return to your daily, work, recreational, and sporting activities as safely and quickly as possible.

Dr. Gopal Raghunath was recommended by my Orthopedic doctor when I was experiencing pain in my knee stemming from years of being an athlete and a past ACL surgery. I met with Dr. Gopal Raghunath, and after a few weeks of treatment the pain in my knee had greatly diminished. I finished up my physical therapy and moved on to personal training with him. During the personal training sessions you are again getting one-on-one treatment. The exercises vary and everything you do works out multiple muscle groups at once with a lot of emphasis on core strength and functionality. It’s always a great strength and conditioning workout.

Due to my past knee injury, I ended up having arthroscopic knee surgery to clean it up and fix a few things. I again returned to Dr. Gopal Raghunath for physical therapy. It is going very well and I look forward to starting up personal training sessions again after I complete the therapy.
